Evaluating Income Streams: A Decision Analysis Approach

چکیده

Most important decision problems—virtually all capital investments and planning situations—involve risky cash flows with uncertainties that are resolved over time. In most of these problems, the decision-maker has access to financial markets and may borrow and lend to smooth consumption over time. Yet, because of the difficulty of incorporating these borrowing and lending decisions into the evaluation models, these opportunities are rarely explicitly modeled in decision and risk analyses of these investments. In this paper, we study the errors induced by failing to account for these borrowing and lending decisions, and we develop extensions to the standard decision and risk analysis procedures that, given certain market and preference assumptions, take these borrowing and lending opportunities into account without overburdening the evaluation models. Priority Setting Meets Multiple Streams: A Match to Be Further Examined?; Comment on “Introducing New Priority Setting and Resource Allocation Processes in a Canadian Healthcare Organization: A Case Study Analysis Informed by Multiple Streams Theory”

With demand for health services continuing to grow as populations age and new technologies emerge to meet health needs, healthcare policy-makers are under constant pressure to set priorities, ie, to make choices about the health services that can and cannot be funded within available resources. In a recent paper, Smith et al apply an influential policy studies framework – Kingdon’s multiple str...

Presenting a New Model for Bank’s Supply Chain Performance Evaluating with DEA Solution Approach

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a method for measuring the efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and outputs. The traditional DEA treats decision making units under evaluation as black boxes and calculates their efficiencies with first inputs and last outputs. This carries the notion of missing some intermediate measures in the process of changing the inputs to...

Square peg in a round hole: re-thinking our approach to evaluating health system strengthening in low-income and middle-income countries

Borghi J, Chalabi Z. BMJ Glob Health 2017;2:e000406. doi:10.1136/bmjgh-2017-000406 To function effectively, health systems require adequate financing; an effective workforce; reliable information for decision making; good governance; and available medicines and health technologies to deliver quality services to their populations. In low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), health systems...

Evaluating Subunits Importance in Performance Measurement of Network Systems in Data Envelopment Analysis

In conventional DEA models, decision making units (DMUs) are generally assumed as a black-box while the performance of decision making sub-units (DMSUs) and their importance play crucial roles in  analyzing the performance of systems which have internal processes. The present paper introduces an ideal network which have efficient processes and next purposes a new approach for evaluating importa...

Presenting a Hybrid Approach based on Two-stage Data Envelopment Analysis to Evaluating Organization Productivity

Measuring the performance of a production system has been an important task in management for purposes of control, planning, etc. Lord Kelvin said :“When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind.” Hence, manag...
